TFD Responds to Residential Structure Fire on Juanita Way

On Friday, Jan. 30, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Juanita Way.
Units arrived on scene to find an approximately 2,000-square-foot, single-story residence fully involved in fire. Due to the extent of fire conditions, crews initiated a defensive attack and worked to contain the fire and prevent further spread.
One fatality was confirmed in connection with this incident.
Three puppies were confirmed to be safely outside the residence at the time of the incident.
Responding units included personnel from Stations 1, 2, 9, 10 and 15. TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS, Leon County Animal Control and the State Fire Marshal. The American Red Cross was notified to assist.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
